European Association for Cancer Research

A new responsive membership website was launched for the European Association for Cancer Research in April 2016. We've worked with EACR for many years now, developing web-based membership services for their community of cancer researchers.

The focus this year was to develop a responsive version of the website with a bespoke content management system. The website was developed to allow the EACR team to update the vast majority of content on the website, helping them to reduce monthly update time.

The website has a range of public content as well as content that is available to members only. Public content includes conference information, latest news, fellowships and awards, jobs and grants and an online application process.

The complex Membership system allows EACR to administer services for their members across the world - with a tailored renewals process, conference management and rewards/loyalty system.

"The EACR is a professional membership organisation for cancer researchers. We have worked with Peter Bourne Communications for many years on our website and on the bespoke member database that sits behind it.

We wanted a completely new, device-responsive website to replace our old site that also included the ability to content manage most of the site ourselves. We had a clear idea of what we wanted the site to look like, and Peter discussed our ideas with us and used them to build the site into something that was not only good to look at but also functional and user-friendly. We are delighted with the end result.

As a European membership organisation that runs international meetings we have unique requirements. Another major piece of development work for the new website was merging a member and meetings database, adding new functionality and improving the existing functionality for members once they logged in. Again Peter took into account everything that we needed the site to be able to do, and found a way to make it possible.
